James graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours). He was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in November 2015.
In February 2015, James joined a leading commercial law firm and undertook his graduate training, which included a rotation through their litigation team. In November 2016, he commenced working at a boutique family law firm, working in all aspects of family law, but with a primary focus in financial matters.
From January 2018, and for a period of 18 months, James worked as the Legal Associate to the now Chief Judge of the Family Court of Western Australia. In this position, James observed trials and interim hearings in a vast range of family law matters and gained valuable insight into case management and family law litigation. In addition, he helped prepare matters for trial, undertook legal research and assisted in judgment writing.
James joined Bannerman Solicitors in July 2019, and brings with him a wealth of experience in family law matters.
James is a member of the Family Law Practitioners’ Association of Western Australia and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
